Former Ogun State Commissioner for Finance, Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the decision followed an extended period of reflection on his political journey and future.

Sarafa-Yusuf disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, August 27, 2026, titled “Moving Forward,” in which he said he had formally informed the leadership of the party in Ogun State and submitted his resignation letter.

He described his time in the APC as an important part of his political journey, expressing appreciation for the people he met, relationships he built and experiences that shaped his understanding of public service and leadership.

According to him, there comes a time when one must have the courage to reassess one’s path, stressing that his decision was informed by the need to carefully consider how best he could continue to contribute to Ogun State and Nigeria.

Sarafa-Yusuf, however, clarified that his resignation from the APC does not amount to an exit from public service, insisting that his commitment to serving the people remains undiminished.

He said his future political engagement would continue to be guided by the values of service, integrity, inclusion and competence, as well as a genuine desire to make a difference.

The former commissioner added that he would return to his professional and business commitments after his holiday while taking time to determine the direction of the next phase of his political engagement.

He wished the APC and its members well, noting that while he was stepping away from the party, he was not stepping away from public service.

Sarafa-Yusuf’s resignation comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State, although he did not disclose the political platform, if any, that he may join next.
