IJEBU-ODE – The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) has inaugurated over 1,100 artisan ambassadors across Ogun East Senatorial District as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots political structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration took place during the Ogun East Mega Rally held at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, with thousands of supporters, political groups, artisan federations, market associations and youth organisations from the nine local government areas in attendance.
The newly inaugurated ambassadors, drawn from various trades including tailoring, mechanics, carpentry and hairdressing, are expected to extend the movement’s activities and mobilise support across their respective communities.
The rally also featured a solidarity walk which commenced at Mobalufon Junction at about 7:00 a.m. and terminated at the stadium. Participants, accompanied by drummers, cultural groups and motorcyclists, displayed banners and chanted solidarity songs in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the rally, the convener of YPM, Engr. Akintunde Armstrong, described the gathering as part of a wider mobilisation initiative, disclosing that similar rallies would be held in Ogun Central and Ogun West Senatorial Districts.
Armstrong said the movement was determined to sustain its grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 elections and ensure the delivery of its candidates.
In his remarks, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, commended the massive turnout, particularly the participation of youths, describing it as a demonstration of their commitment to the movement.
He said the turnout had further strengthened his confidence in the capacity of young people to participate actively in the country’s political process.
Also speaking, Governor Dapo Abiodun, while introducing the APC candidates from Ogun East, called for support for all the party’s candidates, stressing the need for a united voting pattern across the state.
The governor disclosed that the state had promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu two million votes in the 2027 general elections, urging party members to work towards achieving the target.
Speakers at the rally also called for continued support for the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms and the infrastructure projects of the Ogun State Government.
