OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has proscribed the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) across the state following the killing of a prominent transport union figure, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Ajagungbade Emir.
Oyeyemi was reportedly shot dead on Sunday in Ile-Ife by suspected hoodlums during a clash between rival factions over the control of a motor park in the ancient city.
Following the incident, Governor Adeleke directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest all those suspected to be involved in the killing and ensure they are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The governor also ordered all warring factions to immediately vacate motor parks across the state, directing security agencies to restore peace and maintain law and order in the affected parks.
As part of measures to prevent further violence and ensure effective management of motor parks, Adeleke announced the reintroduction of the Park Management System across Osun State.
The governor is also expected to issue an Executive Order to provide legal backing for the new park management arrangement.
The directive, according to the governor, is aimed at restoring normalcy, preventing further clashes and ensuring the safety of transport workers and residents across the state.
