The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Akintunde, has congratulated Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, on his emergence as the preferred senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ogun East ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Abiodun was unanimously endorsed by APC leaders across Ogun East Senatorial District on Monday, April 20, 2026, at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode. The endorsement signals a strong show of unity within the party as leaders rallied support for his candidacy in the forthcoming senatorial poll.
In his message, Akintunde described the development as a product of destiny and divine timing, recalling Abiodun’s earlier bid for the Senate in 2015. He commended party leaders for their collective decision, noting that the governor’s track record in governance positions him as a capable representative for Ogun East at the National Assembly.
He expressed confidence in Abiodun’s chances at the polls and urged residents of the senatorial district to support his ambition, adding that the governor’s performance in office reflects his commitment to development and capacity to deliver greater dividends of democracy if elected into the Senate.
