Ogun West Senator, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, CON, FCA, popularly known as Yayi, has expressed deep gratitude following an unprecedented wave of goodwill and celebrations marking his birthday on August 10.
The lawmaker, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, described the day as “unparalleled” in his life, noting that the scale of celebration was a humbling experience. He particularly acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a father, mentor, and benefactor, for initiating tributes in his honour. Senator Adeola commended the president’s leadership, saying recent policy interventions were already yielding results and would soon be widely appreciated by Nigerians.
He also thanked the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele; and principal officers and members of both chambers of the National Assembly for their calls and goodwill messages.
In Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun and members of the State Executive Council joined the celebrations, alongside political leaders, royal fathers, and community members. Senator Adeola paid special tribute to former Ogun State governor and elder statesman, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, for his early morning call and prayers.
Traditional rulers across Ogun’s three senatorial districts, including the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle; the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; and the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, also sent their best wishes.
The celebrations, according to Senator Adeola, were not confined to Ogun State. Events were held in Abuja, across the South West, and even in the diaspora. From Ilaro in Ogun West to Abeokuta in Ogun Central and Ijebu Igbo in Ogun East, supporters converged in large numbers, turning his birthday into what he described as a “purposeful unifier” for people across political, ethnic, and religious divides.
“I am deeply grateful to everyone who made this day special. Whatever qualities or actions have earned me this outpouring of love, I vow to continue striving for excellence and serving humanity with humility and dedication,” Senator Adeola said.
The lawmaker concluded by offering prayers for peace, joy, and continued unity in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
