Despite being excluded from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final list of candidates, Labour Party’s Michael Adewale Adesanya says he remains optimistic about his political future and committed to his vision for Remo Federal Constituency.
Speaking during an interactive programme tagged “Meet the Press” organised by the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at the Olusegun Osoba Hall, Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, on Friday, August 8, 2025, Adesanya unveiled a detailed strategy for economic transformation in Remo Federal Constituency and Ogun State if elected as the region’s representative in the forthcoming bye-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.
Addressing journalists, Adesanya confronted the region’s critical economic challenges, pointing to an alarming 35% youth unemployment rate. He outlined a vision that moves beyond traditional political promises, focusing instead on practical, data-driven solutions for economic development.
One of his key proposals is the development of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) as a billion-dollar opportunity capable of revolutionising employment for young people. He criticised existing infrastructure and economic policies, arguing they have stifled youth potential and slowed economic growth.
A first-class graduate with international scholarships from the University of Lagos and Stanford University, Adesanya emphasised his unique blend of global perspective and local understanding. He noted that before turning 25, he had successfully managed multi-million dollar business ventures, a background he believes positions him to attract investments and create meaningful economic opportunities.
Women’s economic empowerment also featured prominently in his plans. He highlighted the vital role of women traders in the local economy, lamenting that only a fraction have access to business support or capital.
During the Meet the Press session, Adesanya presented a comprehensive approach to tackling educational challenges, improving infrastructure, and boosting economic opportunities. He positioned himself as a candidate committed to grassroots development and economic empowerment, pledging to challenge traditional political narratives with a results-oriented, experience-backed agenda.
The event, coming just days before the bye-election, allowed journalists to question him extensively on youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and economic diversification. Adesanya responded with detailed plans for tech hubs, BPO training programmes, and strategies to attract strategic investments into the region.
He concluded by portraying himself not merely as a politician, but as a strategic thinker with a proven track record in business, education, and entrepreneurship — determined to offer innovative leadership for Remo and Ogun State.
