The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, has given his royal blessings to the Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, following his declaration to contest the Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

Dr. Taiwo, during a courtesy visit to the monarch on Sunday, formally notified the royal father of his aspiration and presented his All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form, seeking prayers and traditional support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his response, Oba Olugbenle offered prayers for wisdom, guidance, and electoral success, while charging the aspirant to remain committed to the welfare of the people and the overall development of the constituency. The monarch emphasised the need for effective and quality representation, urging Taiwo to leverage his administrative experience and professional background in delivering responsive leadership at the National Assembly.

The royal father also stressed the importance of accessibility and accountability in public office, advising the aspirant to stay connected to grassroots concerns. He further reaffirmed his position that the House of Representatives seat should be zoned to Ipokia Local Government Area in the spirit of equity, fairness, and inclusiveness.

In a related development, leaders of the APC across Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, at an apex meeting held in Ilaro-Yewa, unanimously endorsed Dr. Taiwo as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 elections.

The endorsement signals growing political backing for Taiwo’s candidacy within the constituency, as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the polls.
