The Chairman of the Student Affairs Committee of the Ogun State APC 2027 Campaign Council, Comrade Adeyemi Samson Ajasa, has challenged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, to present his personal record of public service rather than engage in what he described as political distractions.
Ajasa, in a statement, said the Ogun student community’s support for the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, was based on his documented interventions in education, youth development, empowerment and constituency representation.
He said students were interested in concrete programmes and interventions capable of addressing challenges in education, skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and human capital development.
According to him, Senator Yayi’s years of representation in Ogun West had been marked by scholarship and bursary programmes, educational infrastructure, ICT interventions, learning materials and other initiatives targeted at students and educational institutions.
Ajasa cited the 2026 scholarship and bursary programme, which he said reportedly benefited 5,513 Ogun students, as well as other constituency interventions covering infrastructure, healthcare, security, commerce and economic empowerment.
He also referenced reports which put the number of constituency projects executed during Yayi’s third year in the Senate at 53 across different sectors, while the Oloja Yayi Market Support Fund reportedly provided ₦750 million in grants to 10,000 traders across Ogun State.
The APC campaign council committee chairman challenged Adebutu to present comparable records of his personal contributions to education, student development, youth empowerment, infrastructure and human capital development.
Ajasa said Ogun residents deserved to assess the records of individuals seeking their mandate based on documented achievements, programmes, interventions and policy proposals.
He stressed that the student community’s political engagement should remain focused on issues directly affecting young people, including quality education, skills acquisition, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, digital capacity, infrastructure, security and participation in governance.
Ajasa further said the student community would continue to communicate its support for Senator Yayi through what he described as a peaceful and issue-based campaign.
He urged Adebutu to bring his record to the public domain, saying the people of Ogun State should be allowed to examine the respective records and promises of the candidates for themselves.
“We will not be distracted by unnecessary political theatrics. We will remain focused on our mandate, defend the record of our candidate with facts and continue to mobilise the student community around the issues that matter to their future,” he said.
