A wave of joy and celebration swept through Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, as a Consultant Pediatrician at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Dr. Chijioke Ogeh, and his wife welcomed quintuplets after 16 years of waiting for the fruit of the womb.

The remarkable birth, which occurred on Monday, June 1, 2026, has been described by family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers as a divine intervention and a testimony of God’s faithfulness. The couple, who had remained steadfast in faith throughout their years of waiting, were blessed with five babies at once, bringing an end to a journey that had lasted more than a decade and a half.

Dr. Ogeh, a respected pediatrician known for caring for countless newborns and children in the course of his professional duties, had dedicated much of his life to ensuring the health and survival of other people’s children. Unknown to many, he and his wife were carrying the burden of childlessness while continuing to trust God for their own miracle.

News of the successful delivery quickly spread across the hospital community and beyond, attracting an outpouring of goodwill and celebrations. Colleagues, neighbors, relatives and friends trooped to the family’s residence and the hospital to rejoice with the couple, offering prayers of thanksgiving and congratulatory messages for the extraordinary blessing.

Many of those who gathered to celebrate drew inspiration from Luke 1:58, which states: “When their neighbors and relatives heard how the Lord had shown great mercy to them, they rejoiced with them.” For the Ogeh family, the arrival of the quintuplets marks not only the end of years of waiting but also the beginning of a new chapter filled with joy, gratitude and hope.
