Hon. Moruff Kehinde Oyebande, popularly known as AMOROS, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consensus candidate for the Abeokuta North State Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. His emergence, confirmed on May 7, 2026, has continued to generate reactions among party faithfuls and residents across the local government area.
AMOROS, a seasoned grassroots politician from Akingbade Compound, Agooko in Ward 3 of Abeokuta North Local Government, is widely regarded as one of the longstanding pillars of the PDP in the constituency. He has remained a consistent member of the party since 1999 and has built a reputation for loyalty, dedication and active participation in party affairs over the years.
Before emerging as the consensus candidate, the politician served as the Ward 3 Youth Leader for eight years, a position through which he reportedly contributed to youth mobilisation and party development at the grassroots level. Party members described his emergence as a reward for years of commitment and service to the PDP in Abeokuta North.
Beyond politics, AMOROS has also gained recognition for his humanitarian activities through the Amoros Foundation. The foundation has provided scholarships to about 50 students while also distributing relief materials and support packages to residents across Abeokuta North Local Government, especially during periods of economic hardship.
Political observers believe his emergence as the PDP consensus candidate may further strengthen the party’s structure in the constituency ahead of the next election cycle. Supporters also expressed optimism that his experience in grassroots politics and continued engagement with residents would boost the PDP’s chances in Abeokuta North State Constituency.
