A prominent political group in Ogun State, the Yayi Progressives Movement, has praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Dapo Abiodun for their roles in the emergence of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
The commendation was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta by the group’s Convener, Armstrong Tope Akintunde, and made available to journalists through the State Director of Media and Publicity, Oluseun Joshua.
Akintunde described Adeola’s emergence as both timely and well-earned, highlighting the senator’s consistent dedication to progressive ideals and his impactful representation of his senatorial district. He noted that the consensus reflects Adeola’s widespread acceptance and credibility within the APC in Ogun State.
He further commended President Tinubu for his leadership and support, describing his role as instrumental, while also applauding Governor Abiodun for backing Adeola’s candidacy as a successor ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The emergence of our leader as the APC consensus governorship candidate is a natural progression, given his outstanding record of service, particularly in Ogun West Senatorial District,” Akintunde said.
He added that the development marks a historic opportunity for Ogun West, noting that the district has yet to produce a governor since the state’s creation, and described the move as a step toward equity and inclusiveness.
Akintunde also expressed optimism that Adeola’s candidacy would sustain and deepen the state’s developmental strides, drawing parallels with the widely referenced Lagos model of governance. He urged residents of Ogun State to unite behind the APC candidate in the forthcoming election.
“We call on all well-meaning citizens of Ogun State to rally support for Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, in the 2027 governorship election. The state is on the cusp of greater transformation, and the next phase of progress requires experienced and visionary leadership,” he said.
The group reaffirmed its appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters within and beyond the state, expressing confidence in the continued growth and unity of the APC in Ogun State.
