Operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) have recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against crime in the state, uncovering a ritualists’ hideout, arresting suspected internet fraudsters, and recovering firearms and other incriminating items.
According to a statement issued on Friday, October 10, 2025, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the operation followed credible intelligence on cult and ritual activities around Ibusa and its environs. On October 6, CP-SAT operatives stormed the residence of one Onwugbenu Olisa (now at large) located at Umunye Bypass by Power Line, Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area. One suspect, Okechukwu Okwudili Nwanolue, aged 45, was arrested at the scene.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of one pump-action gun loaded with three live cartridges, two laptops suspected to be used for internet fraud, a live snail, and various fetish items concealed in a shrine. The Command confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing prime suspect and his accomplices.
In a related development, CP-SAT operatives, acting on another intelligence report, raided a criminal hideout at Adheje Community along the Sapele–Warri Road on October 7, 2025. Two suspects — Lucky Tenaera (24) of Okwetolor community, Sapele LGA, and Prince Emma Esemedafe (38) of Effurun, Uvwie LGA — were arrested. Items recovered from them included a locally made long gun, 11 ATM cards, and other exhibits.
SP Bright stated that the suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to unravel their network and bring all perpetrators to justice. He reiterated the Command’s commitment under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda to maintaining peace and security through proactive intelligence and decisive enforcement operations across the state.
