Orile Imo, Ogun State – What began as a birthday celebration for the Asiwaju of Orile Imo, High Chief Olakunle Olalekan Joseph, turned into a life-changing event for over 100 residents as empowerment packages and new community projects took center stage.
At the colourful gathering in Obafemi Owode Local Government, widows, artisans, and young entrepreneurs received ₦200,000 each, sewing machines, and hairdressing tools — a gesture that many described as timely support in sustaining livelihoods and uplifting families.
“I am the happiest man on earth today,” Chief Joseph said, beaming with joy. “God has blessed me, and the best way to show gratitude is to give back to my people.”
The celebration also featured the unveiling of two major projects: a new housing estate and affordable lock-up shops in Bara Community. While the estate is his personal investment, the shops will be handed over to the community and local government to provide easier access to affordable business spaces.
Commissioning the housing project, Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode, Ogun State lawmaker representing Obafemi Owode Constituency, praised the initiative as a complement to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s ongoing efforts to tackle housing deficits across the state.
“With these empowerment and development projects, Chief Joseph is reinforcing the government’s strides in improving grassroots welfare and promoting economic growth,” he noted.
For many in attendance, the day was more than just a birthday — it was a demonstration of leadership anchored in service, generosity, and the vision of a better Orile Imo.
