President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Senator Lekan Mustapha and other eminent Nigerians to the board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), alongside the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), both under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
Idris Olorunnimbe will serve as Chairman of the NCC, while Dr Aminu Maida retains his position as Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer. Olorunnimbe, who once served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Board, is credited with driving impactful youth employment and entrepreneurship programmes.
Other NCC board members include Abraham Oshidami (Executive Commissioner, Technical Services), Rimini Makama (Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management), Hajia Maryam Bayi (former Director, Human Capital & Administration), Col Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd), Chris Okorie, Princess Oforitsenere Emiko, and the Secretary of the Board.
The President also approved the constitution of the USPF Board, chaired by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani. Idris Olorunnimbe will serve as Vice Chairman. Other members include Oshidami, Makama, Aliyu Edogi Aliyu (FMCIDE), Joseph B. Faluyi (Federal Ministry of Finance), Auwal Mohammed (FMBNP), Uzoma Dozie, Peter Bankole, Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon, Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri, and the USPF Secretary.
The USPF was created to extend access to information and communication technologies to rural, unserved, and underserved communities across Nigeria.
