Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, was alive with celebratory spirit on Saturday as Dr. Wasiu Tejuoso, Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, and his wife, Mrs. Adebola Tejuoso, were formally installed as Asiwaju Kemta and Erelu Asiwaju Kemta of Egbaland, respectively.
The prestigious titles were conferred by Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, during a vibrant ceremony led by Seriki Kemta, Chief Dr. AbdulFatai Badru, alongside notable chiefs and dignitaries.
Chief Badru praised Dr. Tejuoso’s leadership qualities and community contributions, emphasizing his impact on the youth in the Kemta area as deserving of the Asiwaju title.
“Dr. Tejuoso has distinguished himself as a true son of the soil, showcasing remarkable leadership both in his profession and within the community,” he stated.
The ceremony attracted a diverse array of guests, including prominent figures such as the Rectors of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso, and Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Dr. Adegoke Rauf, along with the Registrar of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Barr. Zachariyah Ajibola, and other notable community leaders.
In his remarks, Asiwaju Wasiu Tejuoso expressed deep gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him.
“This title is a privilege I cherish immensely, stemming from my roots in Kemta,” he said.
Tejuoso, reflecting on his heritage as a descendant of a former Otun of Kemta, vowed to lead his people with integrity and determination. “I promise to embrace this title fully and work toward elevating Kemta to a distinguished position within the community,” he declared.
The event was not only a celebration of Dr. Tejuoso’s achievements but also a reaffirmation of the cultural heritage and communal spirit of the people of Kemta, as they look forward to a bright future under his leadership.
