In a touching tribute to Pa Sunday and Mariam Adigun, late grandparents of Comrade Bunmi Adigun, Secretary of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Pa Sunday and Mariam Adigun Foundation has been established to support impoverished members of society.
The foundation was inaugurated on Wednesday, April 24, coinciding with Bunmi Adigun’s birthday.
During the ceremony, Adigun expressed gratitude for the influential role their grandparents played in their lives, emphasizing that the foundation is a continuation of their legacy of kindness.
He shared his vision of supporting 40 individuals upon turning 40, which inspired the foundation’s first initiative.
Thanks to the generosity of many, 20 indigent individuals received cash grants of 20,000 naira each as part of the foundation’s inaugural empowerment program.
Adigun highlighted the belief that even with limited means, they could help those in need.
He stated, “We do not consider ourselves wealthy; we are all looking to God for grace. Yet, we recognize our ability to share what little we have.”
Accompanied by his sisters, Toluwalope Adeogun and Yewande Akiode, Adigun expressed hopes for the foundation’s growth and its positive impact on more lives in the future.
He thanked all who contributed to the foundation’s launch, stating, “Together, we can indeed make a difference despite our limitations.”
Dignitaries at the event included Special Adviser to the Ogun State, Dare Odufowokan, Dr. Wasiu Tejuoso, and many other notable guests who showed their support for the foundation’s mission.
