A convoy vehicle belonging to the wife of the Nigerian President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was involved in a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl identified as Saratu Lawal in Akure, Ondo State.
The incident occurred during the First Lady’s visit on Thursday, April 17, 2025, as she was arriving to commence the South-West leg of the Renewed Hope Initiative aimed at enhancing the well-being of women and girls across the nation.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that a butter-colored Hilux vehicle from Mrs. Tinubu’s convoy struck Saratu Lawal near the Oba Ile Central Mosque while she was en route from the airport to the event venue.
The young girl, a student at Islamiyar Arabic School in Shasha, was immediately rushed to a local primary healthcare center, but unfortunately, efforts to save her life proved futile.
Malam Lawali, the father of the deceased, expressed his grief, stating, “I have handed everything to God.” Reports indicate that the lifeless body of Saratu has been released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic customs.
