A devastating accident occurred on January 8, along Ajebo Road in Abeokuta, when a truck with registration number AAB917ZY, carrying granite stones, rammed into Jelili Soretire, an apprentice at the spare parts section of the Mechanic Village.
The 8th day of the new year turned into a tragic day for Jelili, who was called to deliver a repaired car door to a customer. While riding his bike, he met his untimely death at the failed portion of the road near Kemta Housing Estate, adjacent to the Eco Gas Station in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as gory, with Jelili’s body getting stuck under the truck.
His colleagues were enraged, but officers from the Kemta Police Station intervened to prevent further chaos.
The driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Jelili’s body has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
