Five Egba Chiefs, namely Anthony Ogunseye (55), Ajasa Enisemo (67), Saheed Sanusi (50), Oludotun Oliyide (60), and Fatai Mutairu (63), have been sentenced to six months imprisonment each by a Chief Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta.
The chiefs were found guilty on a four-count charge of conspiracy, malicious damage, conduct likely to cause breach of peace, and stealing.
They had damaged a sealed letter and removed caution tape from the Ogboni Igbore house, which was sealed by the Abeokuta South local government due to a chieftaincy title dispute.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E.O. Ogunyemi, ruled that the prosecutor had proven the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
The chiefs have been given an option to pay a N50,000 fine instead of serving the jail term.
