In a definitive statement, Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo, former senator and daughter of Nigeria’s ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, has confirmed her decision to permanently withdraw from active politics.

During a Hot Seat interview on OGTV, the former commissioner in Ogun State articulated her stance clearly, stating, “I have left politics. The best way to break it down is; will I run for something, probably not, probably ever, but will I support people in politics? Probably yes. Appointment? I don’t need a political appointment. I have a good life without a political appointment. Political appointment is wading back into politics.”

This affirmation marks a significant moment for the former senator who is now a professor in the University of Maryland, United States.

The former commissioner for health in the state also tasked Nigerian politicians to people oriented in execution of policies and development drive.

The epidemiologist appears to be unimpressed with the reversion to the old national team which she believes to be foreign compared to the rejected one composed by Nigerian.
