In a heartwarming gesture during this year’s Sallah celebration, the Okó Opó Foundation, in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has provided vital support to widows in Ogun State.

As the month of Ramadan comes to a close, the initiative aims to uplift the spirits of 150 widows from seven communities with essential food and cash palliatives.

The beneficiaries, hailing from Isa – Laderin, Masa, Ekiti, Abule – Egbeda, Sokenu, Okotuntun, and Agbese communities, received much-needed assistance aimed at helping them break their fast and partake in Sallah festivities.

At a distribution event held at The Podium in Pelican Valley Estate Laderin, NCS representatives contributed significantly, donating N500,000 in addition to 30 bags of rice to support the initiative.

The beneficiaries expressed immense gratitude towards Ambassador (Dr) Babatunde Adeyemo, founder of the Okó Opó Foundation.

Sherifatu Akinwunmi, a 50-year-old widow from Masa, praised the foundation’s consistent support, saying, “Okó Opó Foundation has become our pillar of support during celebrations. May Allah bless Alhaji Babatunde Adeyemo for his generosity during our times of need.”

Chief Sabiu Sotunde, the 67-year-old traditional ruler of Masa, also commended Adeyemo’s efforts and prayed for continued blessings upon him and his business.

Ambassador Adeyemo, who also serves as the CEO of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, expressed his fulfillment in aiding the widows.

He expressed hope for ongoing support for vulnerable members of the community, stating, “Today is another opportunity to empower the widows. With the generous help from the Nigeria Customs Service, we distributed rice and cash palliatives to 150 widows. We look forward to continuing this heartfelt outreach and encourage more people to join our cause.”

He concluded by thanking all donors and reiterating the foundation’s commitment to uplifting those in need, promising that they would honor the trust placed in them by their benefactors.
