The Remo Committee on State Creation has proposed Sagamu as the capital of a new state to be named Remo-Ijebu.
This recommendation is part of a memorandum prepared by the committee, which was inaugurated by Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land.
Headed by Aare Kola Oyefeso, the committee’s memorandum outlines key points, including the distinctness of the Remo ethnic group, protection of their identity, the siting of the state capital, and plans for increased local governments and commercial development.
The committee emphasizes that data supports Sagamu as the ideal location for the capital, reflecting the growth and developments in Remo Land over the past three decades.

Oba Ajayi endorsed the sixty-six-page memorandum, confirming that it represents the collective position of the Remo people, asserting the name Remo-Ijebu for the state and Sagamu as its capital.
“ The report of the committee represent the position of Remo people regardless of any previous documents”.
The committee has called for support from Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Ogun East (the bill’s sponsor), and other stakeholders, aiming for recognition in history for their efforts.
