Engr. Tayo Oyerokun, the Chief Executive Officer of Aridan Homes Investment Limited, has graciously donated a 2HP standing air conditioning unit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) office in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The donation was inspired by his children, who, while renewing their expired travel passports at the NIS office, observed the discomfort many families faced due to the heat in the waiting area. Engr. Tayo shared his experience on social media, highlighting how his children expressed concern for those waiting in the sweltering conditions.
“My children were in Nigeria recently, and while renewing passports for our family, I noticed many people struggling with the heat,” he said. “They were nicely dressed and trying to manage their children in the uncomfortable environment. My kids came to me and asked, ‘Daddy, can we fix this problem? Can you please buy the children’s section a new AC on our behalf?’ I immediately agreed.”
Engr. Tayo praised the efficiency of the NIS, recalling that his family’s passport applications were processed without any form of bribery and delivered in just three days. After the passport capture session, he discovered a faulty changeover gearbox handling the power supply in the office.
“I suggested donating a 200-amp changeover switch and the 2HP standing AC to the Immigration Office Ikoyi,” he stated. The staff were thrilled with his offer, and he met with the head of immigration, who expressed gratitude for the generous gesture.
Engr. Tayo concluded by sharing that another kind donor had recently contributed two uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to the office due to similar power issues experienced during the passport capture process.
This selfless act not only exemplifies community spirit but also highlights the importance of supporting essential services to ensure comfort and efficiency in public offices.
