In a tragic incident, at least 10 individuals were killed by unidentified assailants in Ruwi village, located in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, during a wake-keep ceremony.
The attack occurred on the night of March 27, 2025. Reports indicate that the victims’ bodies have been transported to a local hospital in Bokkos.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the attack, with Public Relations Officer Alfred Alabo expressing condolences to the bereaved families and the community.
He provided details about the incident, stating that unknown armed individuals invaded Ruwi village around 9:20 PM, leading to a chaotic shooting during the mourning event.
Alabo noted that the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, dispatched law enforcement to the scene and reinforced police presence in Bokkos and surrounding areas to enhance security and prevent similar incidents.
The Commissioner also visited the site to assess the situation and offer support to the affected families during this difficult time.
