Ogun State Government has applauded the seamless process taken to distribute the insecticide treated nets to all the nooks and crannies of Ogun State as this will help reduce and also eradicate malaria prevalence
Dr Mrs Tomi Coker gave the commendation while receiving the Society for Family Health team in her office for the final stage of the distribution process which is to debrief the state and how the distribution was carried out, how many was able to distribute and challenged faced while carrying out the assignment.
The debrief featured an interaction with the commissioner for health, Project director, society for family health comprising media experts, health educators, social mobilizes, and members of the civil society groups.
The Ogun State Government through the commissioner for health, Dr Tomi Coker in partnership with the Society For Family Health with the support of Global Fund Malaria, affirmed record of success so far towards the distribution of insecticide-treated nets which began in November 2024
This is part of key strategy for the prevention and elimination of malaria in the country by the Federal government, create awareness, and signify community acceptance and ownership of the campaign by ensuring effective use of treated nets in order to reduce malaria prevalence in the country.
In her remark, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, expressed her profound appreciation to the team for their cooperation in ensuring the people of Ogun benefit maximally from the Malaria prevention intervention.
While applauding the significant roles played so far by the team in the success recorded, challenges like high cost of transportation affecting the smooth reversal of left-over nets from DPs to the LGA stores among others were also highlighted
Beneficiaries of the nets were thanked for their support so far, they were equally urged to follow the instructions given for the collection and usage of the nets.
