- The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Comrade James Sowole on his appointment and inauguration as a National Ex-Officio and constitutional member of the Union’s Central Working Committee (CWC).
Sowole, a senior correspondent with ThisDay newspaper, was inaugurated during the National Executive Council meeting held in Kano State. A seasoned journalist and unionist, he previously served as Chairman and Secretary of the Ondo State Council of the NUJ.
In a statement signed by Ogun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, and Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the Council described Sowole’s appointment as a recognition of his competence, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to union service.
The Council also acknowledged the inauguration of Mr. Seye Ojo from Zone B as a trustee of the Union, noting that the development further strengthens the zone’s representation at the national level.
“We are confident that Comrade Sowole will deploy his wealth of experience to advance the interests of journalists across the country,” the statement read, while commending the NUJ leadership for appointing individuals with proven records of excellence.
The Council pledged its full support for the newly inaugurated national officers, urging them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
