The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has been appointed as the ITN Ambassador to lead the insecticide-treated net distribution campaign in Ogun State.
The Society for Family Health, a non-governmental organization, made the announcement, recognizing Salako-Oyedele’s dedication to public health and her passion for creating positive change.
As ITN Ambassador, Salako-Oyedele is expected to mobilize women, youth, and other groups to receive insecticide-treated nets and promote their correct use and care.
She will also participate in monitoring the household mobilization and distribution process.
The Project Director, Society for Family Health, Pharmacist Christopher Dangana said they are set to distribute about two point nine million nets in Ogun State and they expect people to use the nets because that is the main activity as it is not just the distribution but ensuring it is used.
Commissioner for health in Ogun State, Dr Tomi Coker who decorated the Deputy Governor on their behalf said the state is poised to run the campaign against malaria effectively, “but this time not just to run it but to show impact”.
Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako Oyedele in her response appreciated the honour done her as an Ambassador of the Campaign as it is a collective responsibility to drive malaria away from not only Ogun State but Nigeria.
The team is optimistic that Salako-Oyedele’s appointment will help play a pivotal role in advocating for malaria prevention, treatment, and research efforts, using her influential voice.
