The ancient town of Idomowo, Ilese-Ijebu was aglow on Saturday as Oluwo Ifagbenga Taiwo celebrated the annual Odun-Ifa Festival in grand fashion—an event deeply rooted in Yoruba spirituality and cultural heritage.
This year’s edition, themed “Aduramigba Odun 2025,” featured a week-long lineup of cultural, musical, and spiritual activities, culminating in special prayers for Nigeria and all members of his spiritual community.
The festival showcased vibrant traditional music, chants, rituals, and communal offerings, attracting worshippers, dignitaries, and culture enthusiasts from within and beyond the community. Guests were treated to electrifying Fuji performances—Hunter Fuji thrilled the audience on Wednesday, while Alhaji Sefiu Adekunle Alao delivered a captivating finale on Saturday.
Dressed in full ceremonial attire, Oluwo Ifagbenga Taiwo performed the highly revered Iwure Odun Special, underscoring the importance of preserving Yoruba indigenous spirituality in a rapidly changing world.
Speaking during the ceremony, Oluwo Ifagbenga emphasized the enduring relevance of Ifa wisdom, describing it as a guiding light for peace, unity, and prosperity.
“Odun Ifa is more than a festival—it is a celebration of identity, heritage, and the timeless teachings of our ancestors,” he noted.
He offered special prayers for Nigeria, calling for national stability, economic transformation, and divine protection for all citizens. He urged leaders to embrace wisdom and integrity, stressing that justice and harmony remain the foundation for sustainable development.
The Oluwo Iledi Alaro, Chief Ifatayo Odusote, expressed delight at the successful celebration, describing it as one of the most colourful, well-coordinated festivals in recent memory.
Similarly, the Oluwo Asomale, Chief Sunday Sosanya, praised Oluwo Ifagbenga for his unwavering commitment to promoting Yoruba culture and strengthening unity among the people.
Alhaji Sefiu Adekunle Alao added flair to the occasion with his signature indigenous musical performance, which further heightened the festival’s energetic atmosphere.
