The Office of the First Lady of Nigeria has addressed a recent video circulating on social media that captures the lively reception given to both the First Lady of Delta State and the First Lady of Nigeria during the Renewed Hope Initiative’s donation of 10,000 Professional Kits to Midwives in the South-South zone.
The event took place on March 25, 2025, at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba, Delta State.
The initiative aimed to motivate midwives nationwide, striving to reduce both infant and maternal mortality rates in Nigeria.
The First Lady expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from the Delta State Government and the enthusiastic participation of nurses, midwives, women’s groups, and student nurses at the event.
However, a portion of the video appears to show students playfully modifying the welcome chant, which has led to some of them receiving queries from the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences regarding their participation.
While the Office respects the need for institutional discipline, it also emphasizes that students often express themselves in a light-hearted manner during moments of excitement.
The First Lady’s Office believes educational institutions should create an environment where students feel safe to express themselves while maintaining decorum.
