Machete-wielding husband kills wife over alleged infidelity in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested 42-year-old Victor Okoh for the alleged murder of his wife, 38-year-old Victoria Okoh, in a tragic incident that took place on March 10, 2025, at their residence on Effiong Essang Street, Oron Local Government Area.

According to DSP Timfon John, the command’s spokesperson, the suspect reportedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity. Authorities responded to a distress call around 5:20 AM, finding Victoria’s mutilated body outside their home.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Victor attempted to evade arrest by hiding in the ceiling of the house. Police operatives tactically secured the premises, forced entry, and apprehended him.

The machete used in the crime has been recovered, and photographic evidence has been collected for the ongoing investigation. Victoria’s body has been taken to the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy, while Victor remains in police custody.

Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, condemned the violent act and emphasized the importance of seeking lawful means for conflict resolution. He assured the public that justice will prevail and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities promptly.

The police command continues to prioritize the safety of citizens and to combat all forms of domestic violence.
