Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasized the Islamic faith as a source of personal strength and a guiding light amid life’s challenges, during her annual Ramadan Tafsir for Women Organizations in the state. This year marked the third edition of the event.
Engr. Salako-Oyedele highlighted the significance of solidarity and steadfastness in faith and duty, stating that these qualities define the essence of community. She regarded the Ramadan lecture as a crucial reflection on unity and sisterhood, underlining the vital roles women play in leadership, particularly as Muslim women.
The Deputy Governor urged attendees to draw inspiration from the lessons shared during the lecture, emphasizing the importance of nurturing families with love and instilling strong Islamic values in children, while also contributing positively to society. She urged women in leadership positions to view their roles as opportunities to influence policy and mentor the next generation of Muslim women.
In her address, the Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adeleye Adijat, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for appointing an influential woman in Engr. Salako-Oyedele, encouraging women to pursue education and engage in politics to enhance their representation.
Ogun State Deputy Speaker, Hon. Lateefat Ajayi, and Hon. Justice Safrat Bello praised the Deputy Governor for fostering an environment for women to deepen their understanding of Islam, while advocating for improved representation of women in government.
Addressing the significance of Ramadan, Alhaji Imam Daud Sanusi discussed the spiritual and physical benefits of fasting, urging attendees to approach Ramadan with a positive mindset and reaffirming its importance in the lives of Muslims.
Alhaja (Chief) Mrs. Yemisi Abass, the Iyaloja General of Ogun State, reinforced the need for women to assert their presence in politics and seek divine guidance.
Representatives from various Muslim women’s societies expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor for organizing the annual Ramadan Tafsir, praying for her strength and success in her endeavors.
