It is a well-known fact that the youth of any country is a great asset. They are indeed the future of the country and represent it at every level.
The role of youths in nation-building is more important than anyone might think. In other words, the intelligence and work of the youth will take the country on the pathway of success. As every citizen is equally responsible, the youth is too. They are the building blocks of a country.
This is what the National Association of Nigerian Students NANS and National Association of Ogun State Students, NAOSS is doing with this convergence to discuss security in Nigeria and how they can contribute to stemming its tide
This, to serve as an initiative to educate, empower and protect the lives of students and young professionals to become entrepreneurs, independent, and leaders in their chosen fields
Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu commended the idea and urged the students to engage regularly stakeholders, religious groups and aggrieved parties to join hands and proffer solutions to myriad of challenges particularly security challenges in the country.
Special Assistant to the Ogun state Governor on Student Affairs, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez acknowledged the governor’s support to the student’s constituency, while reiterating that security is a collective effort.
Azeez added that the theme clearly indicate that these student leaders are as much well informed about the challenges of our nation and willing to join in the intellectual conversation to proffer solution to it.
“Security is a fundamental need of human kind to live comfortably well. We are faced with security challenges in our country like many other nations across the globe.
“The state of insecurity has been a serious concern to the government of Ogun State led by Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun to which he has shown commitment to with several initiatives including provision of support to security agencies in the state.
“Indeed, security challenges cannot be totally combated at one gathering like this. Nevertheless, it is well known that the greatest decisions that have brought the best development to any society usually begin with fora of intellectual people holding important discussions such as the one we will have here today.
Meanwhile the platform was also used to swear in new executives for the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS Ogun JCC), and the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS National)
The summit, an opener that would engender further conversation for holistic approach to socio-economic and security challenges was tagged Economic/Political Approach in combating insecurity.’
