The former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has joined the world to celebrate Prof Wole Soyinka as he joins the league of the Nonagenarians today, Saturday, July 13, 2024.
In a statement made available by one of his media aides, Lanre Akinwale, the former Governor described Prof Soyinka’s life as one which epitomizes selfless service to humanity and unwavering commitment to the development of the nation, Africa, and the entire world.
The statement reads further, ‘’Your noble accomplishments in the arts, where you stand tall as an author, poet, and playwright, speak volumes about your uncommon brilliance and unparalleled passion for good governance and purposeful leadership.
‘’For us in Ogun State, you remain a respected elder statesman and cherished icon that has brought honour and fame to our dear State, Nigeria, and Africa’’.
‘’You have continued to be a source of inspiration to many of us, and we are proud of your commitment to the greatness of the black race all over the world’’.
‘’I join you, your family, friends, and associates to celebrate this milestone at the age of 90. I pray for many more years in good health and with a sound mind,” the statement added.
