In a surprising turn of events, Comrade Gbenga Fagbenro from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has emerged as the new Chairman of the Radio, Television and Theater Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) in Ogun State.
He won the election against the incumbent Chairman, Comrade Idowu Rotimi, by a margin of fourty votes, while his opponent secured ten votes.
The election took place at the State Council Secretariat in Quarry, Abeokuta, and was overseen by Comrade Durosinmi, the National Vice President for Southwest.
He praised the peaceful atmosphere of the election and emphasized that there were no victors or vanquished, highlighting that all efforts should be focused on the development of the Union rather than personal interests.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Fagbenro expressed gratitude to the Union members for their support and pledged to ensure an inclusive administration.
The outgoing Chairman, Comrade Idowu Rotimi, acknowledged the contributions of the State Government in creating a supportive environment and thanked Union members from all five chapters for their belief in his leadership.
Former State Chairmen, Comrades Adebowale Akinwunmi and Seye Adeyemo, witnessed the election and encouraged the new executive to prioritize members’ welfare.
Comrade Hammed ADEMOLA Benco, Chairman of the NLC Ogun State Council, also attended the election and urged the Union to approach its agitations with dialogue rather than confrontation.

– Assistant Secretary: Comrade Gbemisola Adeniyi (NTA)
– Treasurer: Comrade Kolawole Oso (OGTV)
– Financial Secretary: Comrade Ayo Omotosho (Paramount FM)
– Publicity Secretary: Comrade Kunle Idowu (OGTV)
– Representative for OGBC: Comrade Jumoke Adeniregun
The new leadership looks forward to advancing the interests of RATTAWU members in Ogun State.
