Over 500 residents of Ota community, Ogun State, received free medical care during an outreach program commemorating the 75th birthday of Chief Jide Taiwo, Chairman of Jide Taiwo & Co. The event was held on Wednesday at the Palace of Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, Olota of Ota.
Participants received various healthcare services, including eye tests, medical check-ups, blood pressure screenings, sugar tests, health consultations, free medications, and glasses. Medical counseling was provided, and referrals were made for those needing further treatment.
A former employee of Jide Taiwo & Co., Esv. Toyin Aluko, emphasized that this initiative was a way to honor Chief Jide Taiwo as a humanitarian and give back to the community. He highlighted that the outreach aimed to cover various health needs, targeting specific numbers for eye glasses, mosquito nets, and general health tests.
Another former staff member, Mr. Yemi Olugbenle, expressed gratitude for the turnout and reiterated the importance of their mentor’s contributions to their careers. He urged the government to collaborate with the private sector to address Nigeria’s housing needs.
Chief Jide Taiwo’s daughter, Mrs. Jumoke Anifalaje, praised her father’s commitment to humanitarian work, noting that the outreach would improve healthcare quality for residents.
Mrs. Ezuma Rachael Okanlawon, head of the medical team, reported high incidences of eye defects among the community members and stated that while many received immediate care, referrals were made for others needing specialized attention.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, emphasizing that birthdays should be about making a positive impact rather than mere celebration.
