The Ogun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has arrested five suspects over a violent robbery, assault, and malicious damage incident involving two tricycle riders along the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway in the early hours of Monday, August 11, 2025.
The suspects — Clement Samuel (30), Clement Monday (23), Olabode Yusuf (36), Sodipo Taiwo (34), and Ogunsakin Yemisi Opeyemi (22) — were apprehended around 2:30 a.m. following a coordinated patrol led by Ifo Command Coordinator, Amt. Omotunde Dotun.
According to the Corps, the operation was launched after credible intelligence reported an armed robbery at Apomu, where two tricycle operators, Dada Oluwaseun (29) and Oluwajuwonlo Moshood (24), were attacked while carrying out their lawful duties.
The Amotekun team swooped on Oke-Lemo in Papalanto and Apomu, within the Ifo and Ewekoro local government areas, leading to the arrest of all five suspects. The victims later identified Olabode Yusuf and Clement Samuel as the principal assailants, both said to have a history of criminal activities in the area.
Narrating their ordeal, the victims said the attackers fired a locally-made pistol, smashed their tricycle windshields, inflicted serious injuries, and carted away valuables including an iPhone, a Samsung phone, and N40,000 in cash. The assault also caused extensive damage to the tricycles and left the victims traumatised.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects, locally known as “customs camp boys”, were found in possession of a locally-made pistol, charms, and a jackknife allegedly used in the attack.
Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (rtd), Corps Commander of Amotekun in Ogun State, commended the swift response and bravery of the operatives. He described the arrests as “a significant victory in the fight against violent crimes in the State.”
He assured residents that the Corps would remain relentless in its mission to safeguard all communities in Ogun, warning that criminals have no hiding place in the state.
All recovered items and case files have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
