The Chairman of the Ogun State National Assembly Caucus and Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi), has declared his full support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, in the forthcoming by-election for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo Federal Constituency.
The election, slated for Saturday, August 16, 2025, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), seeks to fill the vacant seat left by the late Hon. Adewumi Onanuga.
Senator Adeola described the poll as a defining moment for the constituency, urging voters to safeguard the ongoing collaboration between the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun and the federal government.
“We must not alter the existing collaboration between the federal government and the state on the altar of wrong political decisions,” Yayi stressed. “Remo land, the home of our revered father, the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo, cannot afford to tarnish its image by electing individuals of questionable character.”
He praised Princess Elegbeji’s experience, leadership qualities, and vision, saying she has what it takes to build on the achievements of her late predecessor.
“With her exposure, resume, and worldview, I believe in her capacity to give the people effective representation,” he assured. “I will always be available to lend a helping hand upon her assumption at the National Assembly.”
Highlighting Governor Abiodun’s developmental strides over the past six years, the senator expressed confidence in the APC’s chances, saying feelers from the constituency indicate overwhelming readiness to vote for the party.
“Let us troop out en masse to cast our votes for the APC candidate on Saturday,” Yayi urged.
The by-election is widely seen as a litmus test for the APC’s dominance in Ogun State and an opportunity to consolidate its influence in Remo land
