Distribution of insecticide-treated nets to local governments in Ogun state, has begun with the goal of achieving zero tolerance for malaria.
The federal government has collaborated with the Society for Family Health to transport insecticide-treated nets donated by the organization to the state and down to the local governments.
The distribution process, which is meant to be free to every household in Ogun State, has commenced in earnest, with representatives of the distribution process based in the local governments confirming receipt of the nets.
This effort is part of a larger project to end malaria, which has been a major health challenge in many Nigerian communities.
The federal government is determined to get certified as malaria-free by the World Health Organization.
The Logistics Advisor for Society for Family Health, Pharmacist Simon Ibvori said that this year’s format will be quite different from the previous ones as the carviet for this year’s distribution is targed ‘Targeted Distribution’ which will only be given to those who are in dire need of the nets.
“Malaria is a burden, we all need to our hands together to do something about it, if we actually want to sustain the results that we arw presently getting on the fight against malaria”.
This year’s distribution will focus on those in dire need of the nets, particularly in rural areas and communities where the risk of the disease is higher.
