For Bukola Ganiyat Odunuga, makeup isn’t just about beauty—it’s about confidence, creativity, and connection. To her, every face tells a story, and every brushstroke adds a chapter of self-assurance.
What began as a childhood fascination with colours and contours has grown into a thriving career built on passion, precision, and purpose. “I didn’t learn makeup from any formal school or apprenticeship,” she said with a smile. “It all started when I was five. Our neighbour, Sister Cecilia, loved makeup, and I would sneak into her room to watch her apply it. She later allowed me to experiment with her products—and by seven, I was already doing makeup for her and her friends.”
From her early experiments in Sagamu, Ogun State, Bukola’s artistry has evolved into a celebration of individuality and confidence. Her goal, she says, is not just to enhance beauty but to help people see it within themselves.
“I know makeup has become an all-comers affair,” she said. “But I strive to be different—with my colour combinations, skin toning, and brush techniques. I have unique styles for every occasion—even burials—and the feedback has always been heartwarming.”
Refusing to settle for mediocrity, Bukola immersed herself in studying the works of global icons like Pat McGrath and Bobbi Brown, as well as Nigerian trailblazers such as Tara Fela-Durotoye and Bimpe Onakoya. Without formal training, she honed her craft through online tutorials, constant practice, and an eye for detail that sets her apart.
Her signature? Effortless elegance and emotional depth. Whether creating a soft bridal glow or an avant-garde editorial look, Bukola’s work blends technical mastery with soulful artistry. “Every face I touch becomes a living canvas,” she said. “Makeup, for me, is not just about transformation—it’s about telling a story.”
Beyond the glitz, Bukola sees her work as empowerment. She dreams of opening a professional beauty academy in Sagamu, where young talents can learn, grow, and find their place in Nigeria’s booming creative industry.
Having worked on several film sets and brushed the faces of stars like Bukola Adeeyo, Damilola Oni, Uche Montana, Genoveva Umeh, and Tomi Ojo, she is steadily building a name for herself in Nollywood and beyond. Her ultimate goal? To paint faces at the New York Fashion Week and collaborate with international designers such as DKNY, Lacoste, and LaQuan Smith.
