Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, wife of former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has assured members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ogun State Chapter, of her unflinching support to the association’s humanitarian and empowerment initiatives across the state.
Mrs. Amosun gave this assurance on Tuesday in Abeokuta when the leadership of Ogun NAWOJ, led by its chairperson, Comrade Sekinat Salam, paid her a courtesy visit.
The former first lady said her pet project – the UPLIFT Development Foundation – would look at areas of collaboration with Ogun NAWOJ particularly in sensitizing the young ones on proper menstrual hygiene and in the area of distribution of sanitary towels to girls in the state.
According to her, such collaboration would go a long way to address some of the challenges facing the girl child and other vulnerables in society. She also promised to support other empowerment programmes of the Association.
Mrs. Amosun commended the Women Journalists, for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to keep the flags flying.
In her remarks, NAWOJ chairperson said the association is committed to defending and protecting the rights of women journalists, training members on vocational skills to support them economically.
While appreciating Mrs. Amosun for her support to the association and the entire people of Ogun State particularly through the UPLIFT Development Foundation, Salam intimated her about the forthcoming National Executive Council meeting of the Association scheduled for August 2025.
