A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Prince Fatai Adesegun, has distributed food items and cash worth millions of naira to party members and community groups in Ijebu North Local Government Area, as part of an end-of-year engagement with stakeholders across the area.
Prince Adesegun, a key political ally of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), hosted the meeting under the platform of the Ogun East Assembly, a mobilisation structure supporting Senator Adeola’s 2027 governorship aspiration. The event was held on Tuesday at the Omo Ilu Ground, Ijebu-Igbo.
The gathering brought together APC leaders and faithful from all 11 wards in Ijebu North, alongside community leaders, religious bodies, market associations, youth and women groups, traditional rulers and representatives of ethnic communities.
At the event, a total of 200 bags of rice, 300 cartons of noodles and a cash sum of ₦12 million were shared among various wards, associations and groups in the local government area.
Prominent party leaders in attendance included a former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Prince Segun Adesegun; former members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Samuel Babatunde Adejare, Hon. Abudu Abiodun Balogun and Hon. Deko Onamusi; as well as a former Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Water Resources, Hon. Kunle Otun Kope, among other party chieftains.
The leaders commended Prince Adesegun for his role in fostering unity, cooperation and grassroots mobilisation within the APC in Ijebu North, describing his largesse as timely support for both the party and the wider community.
In a brief goodwill message, Prince Adesegun said the gesture was aimed at strengthening grassroots support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, consolidating the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, and mobilising support for the governorship ambition of Senator Adeola ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He praised Senator Adeola’s leadership style, describing him as a servant leader committed to youth empowerment and sustainable development across Ogun State. Adesegun urged residents and party members to remain steadfast in their support, expressing confidence that greater progress awaits the state under Adeola’s leadership.
Groups represented at the meeting included the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ijebu North chapter; the Muslim community led by the Chief Imam of Ago-Iwoye; market men and women; Baales and Olorituns; Igbo and Hausa community leaders; farmers, artisans, youth and women groups, as well as persons living with disabilities.
The meeting concluded with renewed calls for unity within the APC and sustained grassroots mobilisation across Ogun East.
