The Students’ Union Government of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo (AAPSUG), has strongly refuted a circulating publication alleging that the Union or its leaders benefited from, demanded, or were involved in any government palliative or financial arrangement.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Union described the publication—released in its name without authorization—as false, misleading, and a clear case of impersonation. The Union emphasized that the message did not emanate from its leadership and reaffirmed that no external individual or group is permitted to speak on behalf of AAPSUG students.
“AAPSUG recognizes only the duly constituted leadership of NANS at the State, Zonal, and National levels,” the statement said. “Any individual who attaches the Union’s name to unauthorized statements henceforth will face legal action, regardless of their status.”
The Students’ Union further clarified several key points to put the matter to rest:
- The Union stands in solidarity with NANS JCC Ogun Axis but maintains a clear distance from the palliative initiative linked to the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Adeyemi Azeez Amoo.
- At no time did the Union or any of its officers hold meetings, negotiations, or disputes concerning government palliatives.
- Any rumour, publication, or insinuation connecting the Union to such activities is unfounded and should be disregarded entirely.
Reaffirming its commitment to student welfare, the Union stated that its focus remains on advocating for qualitative education, student rights, and improved institutional support—not involvement in politically tinted narratives.
The statement added that Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic and its Students’ Union were neither beneficiaries nor participants in any palliative-related process, and therefore could not have assisted anyone in responding to allegations of diversion or misappropriation.
“AAPSUG does not condone the misuse of its name for personal or political motives,” the statement concluded. “We remain dedicated to transparency, integrity, and genuine representation of all students.”
