Remo Big Boys for Yayi, Ikenne Local Government Chapter (IKLG), has denied any involvement in the violence that rocked Irolu-Remo, Ogun State, on Friday, October 9, 2026, insisting that the group has no connection with the alleged destruction of a police station, damage to public property and assault on a police officer.

The group’s coordinator, Comrade Babasola Charles Oladapo, stated this in an official statement issued in response to allegations linking the organisation to the incident, which reportedly followed the death of Falaja Opeyemi Olamilekan, a member of the political support group.

Oladapo expressed sadness over the death of the group’s member but warned against using the incident to implicate the entire organisation without credible evidence.

He maintained that Remo Big Boys for Yayi was established to promote political participation and civic engagement, stressing that the group neither supports violence nor condones attacks on security personnel or the destruction of public property.

The coordinator further stated that the group had received information about an audio recording allegedly featuring an individual identified as Lekan, popularly known as Ojuloko, who reportedly made statements concerning the incident. The group also claimed to have received information about video footage said to capture aspects of the event.

According to the statement, the organisation maintains that Ojuloko is not a member of Remo Big Boys for Yayi, IKLG. However, it acknowledged that the authenticity of the recordings, the identities of those involved and their respective roles must be established independently by security agencies.

The group urged the public to avoid drawing premature conclusions or associating it with the alleged violence simply because the deceased was one of its members.

While expressing sympathy with anyone injured during the incident and regretting the reported destruction of public property, the organisation called for a thorough, impartial and evidence-based investigation into the death and the subsequent violence.

It also pledged to cooperate with relevant security agencies and provide any credible information available to assist the investigation.

The group cautioned media practitioners, community leaders and social media users against circulating unverified claims, warning that such reports could damage reputations, heighten tensions and undermine efforts to restore peace in the community.

It further urged anyone in possession of relevant audio or video recordings to submit them to the appropriate authorities for professional examination rather than circulate unsubstantiated allegations.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and responsible political engagement, Oladapo insisted that the organisation should not be held responsible for the alleged actions of individuals without credible evidence linking it to the incident.

He called on the relevant authorities to ensure a fair and transparent investigation to establish the facts surrounding the death of Falaja Opeyemi Olamilekan and the subsequent violence in Irolu-Remo.
