Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish an independent investigative panel to probe controversies surrounding the alleged existence of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and claims made by the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Adeniyi questioned the Chief of Staff’s recent disclaimer distancing the Presidency from the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC), arguing that references to the agency allegedly appear in the 2026 Appropriation Budget.
According to him, if the agency truly does not exist as claimed, questions must be answered regarding its inclusion in official budget documents and other government processes.
Adeniyi also alleged that the agency operated from a federal government facility and had interactions with key government institutions, raising concerns about administrative oversight.
The former presidential appointee further claimed that disagreements between him and the Chief of Staff stemmed from issues relating to the agency’s operations, allegations which have not been independently verified.
He urged President Tinubu to constitute an independent panel to investigate the matter, review relevant documents, examine budgetary records, and determine the facts surrounding the controversy.
The panel, he suggested, should also look into the circumstances surrounding the death of an individual he identified as Babatunde Tanimola, as well as alleged threats to his life.
Adeniyi maintained his willingness to cooperate with any lawful investigation, insisting that only a transparent and independent inquiry can resolve the conflicting claims.
He called on civil society organisations, the media, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to support efforts aimed at establishing the truth.
The Presidency is yet to officially respond to the latest allegations.
