The State Coordinator of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Hon. Olusegun Kaka, has reiterated that the movement is anchored on unity and inclusiveness, urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political actors to set aside differences and work together.
Kaka dismissed claims circulating online that the group adopted its name from another organisation, insisting that the Yayi Progressives Movement is a legally established entity with its own identity and structure.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Movement’s State Media Director, Oluseun Joshua, Kaka described YPM as a people-oriented platform designed to accommodate diverse interests across Ogun State.
According to him, the movement is driven by a shared vision of collective political participation and sustainable development, adding that it welcomes individuals from all walks of life, including members of opposition parties.
“The Yayi Progressives Movement stands as a platform for unity and collaboration. It is open to everyone willing to contribute to the progress of Ogun State, regardless of political affiliation,” he said.
Kaka explained that due diligence was carried out before the adoption of the group’s name, noting that records with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) confirm that no other organisation had previously registered under the same identity.
“We followed all legal procedures, and our registration with the CAC is clear and verifiable. The allegations of name hijacking are unfounded and should be disregarded,” he added.
He further disclosed that the movement has recorded significant growth, with membership cutting across artisans, professionals, youths, and community leaders throughout the state.
Highlighting the origin of the movement, Kaka noted that YPM evolved from the Dapo Abiodun Continuity Agenda (DACA), a political structure active during the 2023 gubernatorial campaign.
He said the rebranding reflects a broader political objective ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly in support of Senator Solomon Adeola, widely known as Yayi.
“The transition represents a new phase of political engagement and mobilisation. It underscores our commitment to strengthening progressive ideals and expanding our reach,” Kaka stated.
Also speaking, the State Deputy Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olanrenwaju Lookman Yakubu, emphasized the need for cooperation among political stakeholders, stressing that unity remains key to achieving shared aspirations.
Both leaders reaffirmed the movement’s dedication to fostering constructive political dialogue and advancing the development agenda of Ogun State.
