ABEOKUTA, NIGERIA — As the “Gateway State” erupts in celebration for its historic Golden Jubilee, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), South-West Zone, has joined the chorus of voices honoring the state’s 50-year journey of progress and prestige.

In a statement released to the press, the General Secretary-Elect of NAPS South-West, Comrade Mubarak Musbau (popularly known as Kizzle), extended warm felicitations to the Executive Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, and the entire citizenry of Ogun State.

Five Decades of Purposeful Leadership

Reflecting on the state’s evolution since its creation in 1976, Comrade Musbau lauded the milestone as a testament to five decades of intentional growth. He highlighted the state’s unique position as a national leader in:

• Industrialization: Maintaining its status as Nigeria’s premier industrial hub.

• Infrastructural Expansion: Connecting the nation through strategic road and rail networks.

• Cultural Heritage: Preserving the rich traditions that define the South-West.

Championing Polytechnic Education

The student leader specifically commended the current administration’s focus on the education sector. He noted that the state government’s efforts to strengthen polytechnic institutions have been instrumental in fostering an environment where technical and vocational students can thrive.

“Ogun State has remained a center of excellence in education and innovation,” Musbau stated. “The commitment of the state government to producing competent graduates is evident in the support given to our institutions and the enabling environment created for students to excel.”

A Partnership for the Future

As Ogun State enters its next half-century, NAPS South-West reaffirmed its commitment to being a key stakeholder in nation-building. The General Secretary-Elect emphasized the association’s readiness to collaborate with the state government on initiatives involving youth development, quality education, and leadership training.

Golden Wishes

The press release concluded with a prayer for continued peace and sustainable development across the state’s three senatorial districts. The tribute was extended to the State Executive Council, the revered traditional rulers, and the community leaders who serve as the custodians of the state’s progress.

“We congratulate His Excellency and all citizens on this Golden Jubilee,” the statement read. “May the next fifty years bring even greater unity and prosperity to the Gateway State.”
