Satguru Maharaj Ji, leader of the One Love Family, has thrown his weight behind former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning of possible military action against jihadist groups and bandits operating in Nigeria, including what he described as their elite sponsors.
In a press statement dated December 15, 2025, Maharaj Ji said Trump’s warning should serve as a long-overdue wake-up call after years of sectarian violence and worsening insecurity across the country. He alleged that some influential individuals, protected within corridors of power, have continued to fuel unrest nationwide.
The spiritual leader called for the arrest, interrogation, and prosecution of individuals he accused of sponsoring violent activities, specifically naming Sheikh Ahmad Gumi and others.
Maharaj Ji argued that Nigeria—home to the world’s largest Black population—ought to be a global pillar of strength, but is instead being undermined by what he described as neo-colonial forces working through internal collaborators.
Echoing and expanding on Trump’s position, he alleged that significant portions of Western donor aid have been diverted to finance jihadist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province. According to him, the funds are allegedly used to acquire property, weapons, and ammunition, worsening violence, unemployment, and ethnic tensions.
He further accused some Northern elites of deliberately weakening national unity for personal or political advantage.
Referencing his 1993 declaration of Nigeria as a “No War Zone,” Maharaj Ji claimed that his continued presence in Africa represents what he termed the greatest barrier and antidote to an alleged plan for an “apocalyptic genocide.”
The statement also took aim at Christianity and Islam, which he described as foreign impositions and “opium for the masses.” He advocated a return to African traditional spiritual practices, which he said align with natural laws and offer genuine protection.
In a direct appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Maharaj Ji urged decisive action that places humanitarian concerns above sentiment. He advised the president to engage Trump for intelligence cooperation to expose jihadist enclaves, citing alleged collaboration between Nigerian authorities and former U.S. President Bill Clinton during the Abacha era as precedent.
Maharaj Ji also proposed domestic measures, including the reintroduction of nationwide toll gates, provision of vehicles for medical doctors, and urgent audits of property ownership and fintech companies to identify possible fronts for terrorist financing.
Additionally, he called on the Sultan of Sokoto to instruct followers to vacate illegally occupied lands and urged the federal government to screen Nigeria’s representatives to the ECOWAS Parliament to remove anyone sympathetic to bandits.
The statement ended with both reassurance and warning. Maharaj Ji pledged spiritual support for President Tinubu but cautioned that Nigeria’s survival would require what he described as a karmic reckoning for “old jihadists and their hedonistic protégés.”
