The Ogun State Police Command has launched the Gateway Shield Platform, a toll-free digital service that allows residents to report incidents swiftly and securely from anywhere in the state.
Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, unveiled the platform during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, explaining that the initiative is aimed at improving response time, boosting public safety, and deepening community policing.
The Gateway Shield Platform is available as a mobile app on the Play Store (Gatewayshield), via the web (www.thegatewayshield.com), and through a toll-free line, 08000009111. It connects users directly to bilingual agents at the Ogun State Police Digital Center, who quickly process complaints and coordinate responses from the nearest police unit.
According to Ogunlowo, the new initiative, driven by the Inspector-General of Police, reflects a commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s policing through technology, data, and citizen partnership. He also used the occasion to review crime statistics in the state, announcing the recovery of weapons, stolen vehicles, and other exhibits from recent operations.
The CP assured that all suspects will be diligently prosecuted while cautioning residents against shielding criminals or engaging in acts that threaten public peace. He further called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and youths to partner with the police by providing timely intelligence.
“With Gateway Shield, Ogun Police Command is not just fighting crime,” Ogunlowo declared. “We are redefining public safety by putting swift response directly in the hands of the people.”
