The newly elected leadership of the Ogun State chapter of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) has pledged deeper collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to enhance the welfare of its members and improve public engagement in the state’s creative and broadcast industries.
During a courtesy visit to the Ministry, the State Chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Gbenga Fagbenro, commended the Ministry for its ongoing support and expressed the union’s readiness to work closely with relevant stakeholders to promote Ogun State’s cultural image.
“As workers in the arts and broadcast industry, our role in technical and content delivery is crucial. We are here not only to appreciate the Ministry’s support but also to seek collaboration, especially as we prepare for the upcoming National Delegates Conference in Gombe State,” Comrade Fagbenro said.
He emphasized that the union under his leadership would prioritize strategic engagement, transparency, and proactive dissemination of public information to strengthen the sector’s growth and visibility.
Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, while receiving the delegation, congratulated the new executive and urged them to make welfare, accountability, and integrity central to their tenure.
“The creative industry is pivotal to shaping public perception and identity. RATTAWU must not only protect its members but also uphold the highest standards of professionalism,” he noted.
Also speaking, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Qudus Yusuf, commended RATTAWU for maintaining peace and unity within its ranks and applauded the MCT Chapter of the union for producing the state’s chairman. He advised the new leadership to be diligent, consult widely, and remain transparent in their dealings.
RATTAWU, established over four decades ago, continues to be a critical link between creative industry workers and their employers, advocating for a better working environment across Nigeria’s media and arts landscape.
