Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has extended his congratulations to Muslim pilgrims currently performing the Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, as they observe the sacred Day of Arafat.
In a telephone address, he praised their peaceful conduct and offered prayers for their successful pilgrimage and a joyful Eid al-Adha celebration.
“I congratulate you on your successful visit to Mount Arafat and pray that God accepts all your prayers. I wish you a safe return to Nigeria after the completion of your journey,” said Governor Abiodun.
The Governor also commended the leadership of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, particularly Chairman Iziaq Oloungbebe and Executive Secretary Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo, for their efforts in coordinating the pilgrims.
He specifically praised Amir Hajj for 2025, Alhaji Samsudeen Apelogun, for his effective leadership and dedication to promoting Islamic activities.
The Chairman of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Consultant on Islamic Affairs, Sheik Iskeel Lawal, also offered prayers for the progress of Ogun State and its leadership.
A highlight of the occasion was Amir Hajj Apelogun’s announcement of a special donation of 50 Riyals to all 675 Ogun State pilgrims to assist with costs for the purchase of ram, which they will slaughter as part of the pilgrimage rites.
“This donation serves to subsidize the 100 Riyals typically expected for this purchase,” he noted, encouraging pilgrims to maintain order and uphold the state’s positive reputation as they continue their pilgrimage
